Three Glendora HS Teens Sign Letters of Intent

Standout student athletes sign with four-year schools.

As district and school administrators, coaches and parents looked on, three 17-year-old student athletes from Glendora High School signed National Letters of Intent last week that will take the youngsters into the next phase of their life.

Baseball players DJ Peters, Eric Flores and softball player Alicia Brown signed to their schools of choice Nov. 13, all were excited for what lay ahead.

Flores, a pitcher, signed with the University of Arizona.

"The Pac-12 is a great division. The academics are great there as well. Just overall a more broad selection to pick from," Flores said, adding that it will be an honor to work with the school's baseball team.

"You play the game to be the best. I feel that all the hard work I put in definitely paid off now," said Peters, center fielder. Peters chose Call State University Fullerton and had high praise for that school's program. "The coaches are wonderful coaches. They know baseball. I'm very blessed and honored to be a part of that family."

Alicia Brown, who plays first, third and outfield for Glendora's softball team chose Loyola Marymount as her school.

"The whole thing was kind of sudden," Brown said on the opportunity for her to tour Loyola. She wanted a small campus and jumped at the chance to visit the school.

"It was exciting. I was nervous. It all felt like it wasn't real until that moment. It was an amazing experience," Brown said of the signing day at Glendora High School. Brown would like to eventually study forensics.

"It's an exciting time for us," said Rod Tilton, Glendora High School athletics director. "These kids have been working so hard, academically and athletically to be recognized and rewarded for their hard work."
