Sandburg Students Honored For Academics, Achievements

The Rotary Club of Glendora recently honored two Sandburg Middle School students for their overall academic performance and achievements.

Eight-graders Leslie Chang and Anthony Villalabos were given certificates of achievement at the Rotary's weekly meeting, Nov. 12, said Rotary Member Jane Bock.

Chang maintains a 4.0 GPA and is enrolled in Pre-AP classes. Chang is also a pianist, speaks several languages and plans on a career in medicine, Bock said.

Villalabos also maintains a 4.0 GPA. He plays the Viola with Sandburg's orchestra and loves to write.

Both students were nominated by their teachers, Bock said.

"Glendora Rotary is proud to have the honor of presenting these two students with the Glendora Rotary Student of the Month Award.  These students exemplify the Rotary motto of 'Service Above Self'," Bock said in a press release.
