Goddard To Welcome Moka City, Japan, Students

Goddard Middle School will once again host students from sister city Moka City, Japan.

About 20 students from Moka Higashi Junior High School in Japan will be visiting Nov. 8. The students, who range in age from 13 to 15, will stay with host families until Nov. 14 while they interact with Goddard students and learn about American culture.

Goddard has partnered with Moka Higashi for over 20 years, school officials said in a statement.

"We know that both schools have benefited from this international relationship. As with any invited guest on campus, we trust that when representatives from Moka visit Goddard, all of our students will treat them with respect and warmth," school officials said.

Host families are given the chance to provide a glimpse for their Japanese visitors on what the American lifestyle is like. Japanese students will attend classes at Goddard along with the child/children of the host family, school officials said.

In the summer, Goddard students whose family hosted a Moka Higashi student will have priority selection for the opportunity to travel to Moka City, Japan, in the summer of 2014, school officials said.
