Applications Being Accepted for Citizen's Academy

Glendora Police will offer classes that give a first-person perspective of policing duties.

The is once again giving citizens the chance to learn the ins and outs of policing duties with the upcoming Citizen's Academy.

The department is accepting applications for the 12-week program, which is free to all residents, and allows people to learn how crimes are investigated, how evidence in preserved, duties of drug enforcement, patrol operations and many other areas.


Applications are accepted until Sept. 21. The program begins Sept. 26 at the Glendora Police Department from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Class size is limited to 25 students who work, or live in Glendora, or are students of who are at least 18 years old.

The program has graduated 600 students to date, according to a department press release. Instructors for the course include personnel from many levels of the police department, from the patrol captain, to area lieutenants, patrol officers and detectives. Students are encouraged to ask questions and express their concerns about pertinent issues.

The main goal of the Citizen's Academy is to increase a greater understanding from the citizen's perspective of the duties of police work and that doing so can build a stronger relationship in the community.

GPD is great! The entire force protects this great city! There are many other facets that make GODRead More run smoothly. We cannot forget about the auxiliary, the cadets... So many other folks that also make GPD as great as it is!!!

Go, go GPD. It is nice to be appreciated, but even better when someone acknowledges it.
