Two Accidents Occur on Glendora Mountain Road, One Leaves Two Injured

Both accidents happened in the early morning hours, the most severe involved a solo roll over crash that left two people with minor injuries.

Two separate accidents happened in the early morning hours on Glendora Mountain Road, one accident left two people injured when their vehicle rolled over.

One accident happened around 12:40 a.m. on Glendora Mountain Road just north of mile marker 6.5, according the California Highway Patrol. Glendora Police were informed of the crash by Covina Police, who first received the call, and dispatched two units to the scene until CHP and Los Angeles County Fire officials arrived.

"It was a 9-1-1 call that Covina PD received somehow, then Covina called us," Ward said.

The three occupants were able to exit the vehicle under their own power, but two of them suffered from minor injuries. One male occupant suffered from a head injury. The extent of his injuries was not known, Ward said.

There was another solo crash on Glendora Mountain Road, this one happened around the same time about one mile north of Sierra Madre, according to officials. The vehicle allegedly struck a portion of the guard rail along the mountainous road and became wedged between the rail and a tree causing minor property damage, said Sgt. Matt Williams of Glendora Police.

Why the vehicle hit the guard rail is not known.

Both accidents were out of Glendora PD jurisdiction, having occurred on Los Angeles County land, but they were the first to respond because of their proximity to the crashes, Ward said.

Communication between Glendora PD units was difficult because they were almost out of transmission range, Ward said.

CHP was unavailable to give further details about both crashes.
