Police Blotter: DUIs, School Fights and a Building Fire

Local police activity for the week of Oct. 22 to Oct. 28.

The following information was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Oct. 22. Lt. James DeMond and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 8:30 a.m. - A graffiti report was made in the 500 block of North Grand Avenue.
  • 8:48 a.m - A fight between two teens was reported on Barranca at Ghent avenues. As the two fought, five teens allegedly watched, the caller said. Officers located one teen who admitted to being involved, but the others had left the area.
  • 9:19 a.m. - A burglary was investigated in the 500 block of West Citrus Edge Street.
  • 11:06 a.m. - A health and safety code violation was reported at Citrus College, 1000 West Foothill Blvd. Officers arrested Robert Muncy, 26, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance. Muncy was released for a court appearance.
  • 3:04 p.m. - A theft report was filed in the 900 block of South Country Club Drive.
  • 6:42 p.m. - A traffic collision was reported in the 700 block of East Gladstone Street. Police arrived and arrested Hernesto Perez, 26, on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level. Perez was cited and released.
  • 9:37 p.m. - A report of public drunkenness was made in the 200 block of West Baseline Road. Arrested was Dyllan Collado, 20, on suspicion of disorderly conduct and 25662 A (minor in possession of alcohol). Collado was cited and released.


Tuesday, Oct. 22. Sgt. Mike Randazzo Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 7:14 a.m. - A vehicle burglary was reported in the 1300 block of East Gladstone Street.
  • 10:47 a.m. - A commercial burglary was reported in the 200 block of East Gladstone Street.
  • 12:02 p.m. - Officers conducted a pedestrian check at Walmart, 1950 East Auto Centre Drive and arrested a man on an outstanding warrant.
  • 2:47 p.m. - A grand theft was reported at Citrus College.
  • 6:07 p.m. - A disturbance was reported near The Wheel, 921 West Arrow Highway. Two women were reportedly fighting with each other. Officers arrived, searched for those involved and eventually arrested Michelle Giampaolo, 30, on suspicion of battery and appropriation of lost property. Giampaolo was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.


Wednesday, Oct. 24. Sgt. Matt Williams and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 12:47 a.m. - Police investigated a drunk subject in the 800 block of West Route 66 and arrested Travis Tuckness, 51, on suspicion of public drunkenness. Tuckness was cited and released.
  • 10:01 a.m. - A vehicle burglary was reported in the 600 block of South Pasadena Avenue. Two vehicles in the carport were burglarized, said Sergeant Scott Strong.
  • 3:06 p.m. - A theft in progress was reported behind Sam's Club, 1301 South Lone Hill Avenue. A man allegedly attempted to steal a bale of cardboard. The man drove off west on Gladstone Street, but was found and arrested. Hember Jerez, 29, was booked on suspicion of driving without a license and failing to provide a license to officers. Jerez was cited and released.
  • 3:15 p.m. - A residential burglary was reported in the 300 block of South Pennsylvania Avenue. Entry was made through a rear window and jewelry was taken.
  • 4:24 p.m. - A second residential burglary was reported in the 300 block of South Pennsylvania Avenue. This burglary occurred to the rear of the duplex in the earlier call, entry was made through a rear window and jewelry was also taken, Strong said.
  • 4:47 p.m. - A burglary was reported in the 900 block of South Sandstone Drive.


Thursday, Oct 25. Sgt. Matt Williams and Sgt. Mike Randazzo on duty.

  • 12:24 a.m. - Officers were called to assist Covina Police on Barranca Avenue at Ghent Street with a pursuit suspect.
  • 1:47 a.m. - A burglary was reported at the Golden Spur, 1223 East Route 66. An office was ransacked after a rear door appeared to be forced open.
  • 8:03 a.m. - A traffic sop was conducted in the 1400 block of South Wabash Avenue and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license and failing to provide a license to officers. The driver was cited and released.
  • 1:12 p.m. - A burglary was reported in the 1500 block of South Rimhurst Avenue.
  • 3:06 p.m. - A grand theft was reported at Citrus College.
  • 8:40 p.m. - A burglary was reported in the 200 block of North Lone Hill Avenue. A resident alleges he was lured into his backyard by a man claiming to do fence repair. The resident entered his home to find cash and jewelry taken.


Friday, Oct. 26. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 12:14 a.m. - A fire was reported at Glendora Grand, 805 West Arrow Highway.
  • 2:05 p.m. - A fight in progress was reported on Armstead Street west of Barranca Avenue. Two female students, 15 and 16, from Sierra High School were arrested.
  • 3:06 p.m. - A burglary in progress was reported in the 400 block of North Glendora Avenue. A resident heard a neighbor's alarm go off and went outside to see. The neighbor reported two men ran from the rear yard into a waiting truck and took off. No loss was reported, DeMond said. The suspects had entered through a rear sliding door. Police are looking for a black Chevy Avalanche.
  • 3:57 p.m. - A residential burglary was reported in the 600 block of North Valencia Street. A window was reportedly pried open. Jewelry was stolen.
  • 5:06 p.m. - A vehicle burglary was reported on Bonnie Cove Avenue at the 210 freeway.
  • 10:12 p.m. - A traffic stop was conducted in the 1100 block of Strawberry Lane. The driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance. The driver was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.


Saturday, Oct. 27. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 5:15 a.m. - A non-injury traffic collision was reported in the 600 block of South Elwood. Arrested was Frederick Goodwin, 25, on suspicion of DUI. Goodwin was issued a citation and released.
  • 9:34 a.m. - A theft report was investigated in the 1300 block of East Comstock Avenue. Political signs were stolen from the residence.
  • 9:36 a.m. - Two theft reports were filed in the 100 block of North Valley Center Avenue. More political signs were reportedly stolen from the two residences.

*It was not immediately known what the signs said in these three cases.

  • 12:34 p.m. - A theft report was investigated in the 400 block of North Fern Dell Place.
  • 5:18 p.m. - Police responded to a report of juvenile problems in the 700 block of East Mauna Loa Avenue. The caller alleged teens were drinking at Mauna Loa Park. Officers arrived and discovered the teens to be in possession of marijuana. An adult male on scene reportedly admitted to selling the marijuana to the the teenagers. Arrested was David Navarro, 28, on suspicion of selling marijuana to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Navarro was held in lieu of $40,000 bail. The teens were released to their parents.
  • 8:12 p.m. - A traffic stop was conducted in the 700 block of East Route 66 and the driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance. The driver posted bail.


Sunday, Oct. 28. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 2:25 a.m. - A traffic stop was conducted in the 300 block of West Route 66 and the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level. The driver was held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
  • 2:31 a.m. - A disturbance was reported in the 900 block of East Lemon Avenue and officers arrested the man on suspicion of disorderly conduct. The man was held in lieu of $250 bail.
  • 8:07 a.m. - A theft was reported in the 100 block of North Whispering Oaks Drive.
  • 2:56 p.m. - A disturbance was reported in the 400 block of West Route 66. Arrested was Christine Humphrey, 26, on suspicion of making criminal threats. Humphrey was eventually transferred to the Century Regional Detention Center.
  • 3:57 p.m. - A theft in progress was reported at Walmart. A man allegedly attempted to take DVDs from the store. The man reportedly walked around the store for nearly an hour and officers were called off. The man was eventually detained by loss prevention and officers arrested Vernell Bradshaw, 68, on suspicion of burglary. Bradshaw was issued a citation and released.
  • 7:15 p.m. - Officers arrived to McDonalds, 1835 East Route 66, on a report of suspicion circumstances. A man was reportedly seen acting under the influence of drugs. Police arrived and arrested Lawrence Martinez, 42, on suspicion of possessing and controlled substance and being under the influence of drugs. Martinez was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
