Police Blotter: DUI, Grand Theft and Fraud

Local police activity for the week of Dec. 19 to Dec. 25.

The following information was supplied by the Glendora Police department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Dec. 19, Lt. Amaro and Lt. Caldwell on duty.

  • At 9:41 a.m. officers responded to the 100 block of W. Route 66 and arrested Warren Blagrave, 50, for disorderly conduct from drugs and alcohol. Blagrave also had a prior warrant and was held in lieu of $2,500 bail.
  • At 12:20 p.m. officers responded to a fraud in progress report at Walmart, 1950 E. Auto Centre Drive. Officers arrested Thomas Han, 31, for burglary and theft. Han was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
  • At 1:45 p.m. officers performed a follow up investigation in the 1300 block of E. Gladstone Street and arrested Salvador Aguilar, 21, for driving without a license. He also had two previous warrants and was held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
  • At 2:19 p.m. officers investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 1800 block of E. Route 66 to the rear of Stater Bros. The vehicle's window was smashed and the victim's purse was taken, according to Caldwell.
  • At 2:30 p.m. officers responded to Walmart, 1950 E. Auto Centre Drive for fraud in progress. The female subject was attempting to purchase items with a credit card that was declined, Caldwell said. Officers were unable to substantiate a crime, but did arrest Marlina Lopez, 35, for two prior warrants and held her in lieu of $200,000 bail.
  • At 7:50 p.m. officers arrested Manuel Arevalo, 20, at 150 S. Glendora Avenue for being under the influence of a controlled substance and for operating a motor vehicle with an open container of alcohol while under the age of 21 without a responsible party present. Arevalo also had two previous warrants and was held in lieu of $75,000 bail.


Tuesday, Dec. 20, Lt. DeMond and Lt. Ward on duty.

  • At 8:46 a.m. officers investigated a vehicle burglary report at 2250 E. Route 66. A window was smashed and some automobile parts were stolen from the inside of the vehicle, DeMond said. The crime happened the previous night but was not reported until the morning.
  • At 11:18 a.m. officers arrived to the 1000 block of S. Glendora Avenue and arrested Steven Murillo, 19, for minor possession of alcohol. Murillo was cited for $1,000.
  • At 1:39 p.m. officers were called to Glendora High School, 1600 E. Foothill Blvd. A 16-year-old student was arrested for battery. The subject allegedly punched another student, Ward said. The subject was cited and released to their parents.
  • At 3:08 p.m. officers investigated a vandalism report in the 200 block of S. Vista Bonita Avenue. Over the weekend, rocks were thrown at a vacant apartment and windows were broken, Ward said.
  • At 6:42 p.m. officers investigated a grand theft auto report in the 700 block of W. Route 66.


Wednesday, Dec. 21, Lt. Ward on duty.

  • At 9:19 a.m. officers investigated a grand theft report in the 2200 block of E. Route 66. Overnight a catalytic converter was stolen from a Toyota Tacoma.
  • At 10:02 a.m. officers arrived to Glendora High School, 1600 E. Foothill Blvd., on a health and safety code violation. Officers arrested a 17-year-old student on suspicion of marijuana possession.
  • At 10:23 a.m. officers investigated a grand theft report in the 200 block of S. Grand Avenue. The vehicle owner alleges their catalytic converter was stolen from the parking lot of Foothill Presbyterian Hospital, Ward said. The vehicle in this case was also a Toyota Tacoma.
  • At 12:18 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance call in 1100 block of E. Bennett Avenue. The subject left the house of a relative, police later found Kayla St. Onge at Elwood and Myrtle avenues and arrested her for possession of stolen checks that had been taken in a vehicle burglary in Diamond Bar recently, Ward said. St. Onge was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
  • At 1:39 p.m. officers investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 600 block of W. Route 66. The window of the victim's camper shell was broken and a number of gardening tools were stolen.
  • At 2:54 p.m. officers investigated a theft report in the 600 block of E. Sycamore Avenue.


Thursday, Dec. 22, Lt. Caldwell on duty.

  • At 1:11 a.m. officers initiated a traffic stop on the 900 block of S. Grand Avenue. Officers arrested the driver for DUI and for having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. The driver was cited for $5,000.
  • At 6:22 a.m. officers investigated a call of suspicious circumstances in the 100 block of W. Bennett Avenue and arrested the subject for disorderly conduct from drugs and alcohol. The subject was held in lieu of $250 bail.
  • At 8:30 a.m. officers initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of W. Baseline Road and arrested the subject for being under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was cited for $2,500.
  • At 2:18 p.m. officers performed a welfare check in the 500 block of W. Route 66 and arrested the driver for DUI and for having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. The driver was cited for $5,000.
  • At 2:50 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of S. Parker Avenue and arrested the driver for DUI and for having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. The driver was cited for $5,000.
  • At 7:15 p.m. officers initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of W. Baseline Road and arrested the subject for driving under the influence of a controlled substance. The driver was held in lieu of $2,500 bail.


Friday, Dec. 23, Lt. Lamborghini and Lt. Caldwell on duty.

  • At 2:04 a.m. officers initiated a traffic stop in the 200 block of N. Valley Center Avenue and arrested the driver for DUI and for having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. The driver was described as weaving in and out of traffic. The driver was cited for $15,000 and released.
  • At 2:32 a.m. officers were called to the 300 block of E. Claraday Street on a restraining order violation report. The subject appeared at the home of his wife, who has a restraining order against him, the day prior and tried to gain entry. The subject returned and tried to enter the house by removing a window screen, Caldwell said. Officers arrived and arrested Jonathan Cook, 35, for attempted burglary and violating a restraining order. Cook was held on $50,000 bail and later transported to the Los Angeles County Inmate Reception Center for medical issues.
  • At 6:40 a.m. officers investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 900 block of E. Shady Lane.
  • At 11:18 a.m. officers were called to the 100 block of E. Meda Avenue. Officers arrested the subject for appropriation of lost property. The subject was held in lieu of $500 bail.
  • At 11:28 a.m. officers responded to a disturbance at the Department of Child and Family Services office in the 700 block of S. Grand Avenue. Two people were arguing, the female party was discovered to have two previous warrants and arrested Maria Sosa, 24. Sosa was held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
  • At 1:15 p.m. officers responded to a report of public drunkenness in the 700 block of S. Grand Avenue. Officers discovered the individual was under the influence of soma, Vicodin and possessed some other forms of narcotics, Caldwell said. Officers arrested the subject for possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct. The subject also had a previous warrant and was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
  • At 7:07 p.m. officers initiated a traffic stop in the. When the driver declared he had no ID the officer insisted on searching the car to find identification. Two other occupants refused the search and immediately became combative with shouting and screaming, according to Caldwell. Backup officers arrived to quell the situation. Diego Sotelo, 23, Robert Sotelo, 19, and a 17-year-old girl, all from Glendora, were arrested for resisting an officer. Robert Sotelo was additionally booked on suspicion of making threats against an officer. A search of the vehicle yielded a machete found hidden under a seat. Robert Sotelo was held in lieu of $25,000 bail, Diego and the 17-year-old girl were cited and released, the latter was taken down to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall for a probation violation, Caldwell said.


Saturday, Dec. 24, Sgt. Randazzo on duty.

  • At 1:24 a.m. officers responded to a hit and run call on Hunters Trail near Route 66. The victim followed the driver until Glendora PD arrived, Glendora officers continued following until the driver pulled over on the 500 block of E. Ada Avenue and arrested Ashley Hagen, 23, for DUI, for having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit and for a hit and run offense. Hagen was cited for $15,000.
  • At 2:14 a.m. officers responded to a battery report in the 200 block of S. Valley Center Avenue. Officers arrested Lee Peters, 41, for battery. Peters was cited for $1,000.
  • At 8:57 a.m. officers investigated a vandalism report in the 200 block of E. Route 66. A woman found some damage on her car and believes that some repossessors scratched that vehicle while taking another the caller owned, Randazzo said.
  • At 11:31 a.m. officers responded to a theft in progress at Walmart, 1950 E. Auto Centre Drive and arrested Lori Vangundy, 47, for burglary and for possession of a controlled substance. Vangundy was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
  • At 6:46 p.m. officers performed a pedestrian check in the 500 block of S. Glendora Avenue and arrested Richard Wilson, 43, on two prior warrants involving driving without a license and criminal intent to terrorize. Wilson was held in lieu of $60,000 bail.


Sunday, Dec. 25, Sgt. Williams on duty.

  • At 4:58 a.m. officers investigated a vandalism report on the 1800 block of E. Route 66.
  • At 7:30 a.m. officers responded to a non-injury traffic collision in the 600 block of S. Le Mar Park Drive and arrested Roberto Herrera, 24, for DUI and for having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. He was also suspected of driving without a license and was cited for $5,000. Officers also arrested Guillermo Hernandez, 41, for disorderly conduct from alcohol. Hernandez was held in lieu of $250 bail.
  • At 3:04 p.m. officers responded to a report of a city code violation on the 400 block of W. Foothill Blvd. and arrested Armondo Lomeli, 53, for disorderly conduct resulting from drugs or alcohol. Lomeli was held in lieu of $250 bail.
  • At 5:32 p.m. officers performed a pedestrian check on the 600 block of W. Route 66 and arrested the subject for receiving known stolen property. The subject was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
  • At 6:32 p.m. officers investigated a fraud report on the 1600 block of S. Barranca Avenue.
