Police Blotter: Burglaries, Vandalism and Counterfeit Money

Local police activity for the week of May 7 to May 13.

The following information was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, May 7. Sgt. Matt Williams on duty.

  • 1:54 a.m. - Police conducted a pedestrian check on the 600 block of West Route 66. An officer observed a woman walking across the street against a red light. Once the officer approached the woman, she was very uncooperative and began kicking and hitting him. Backup officers arrived and arrested Monica Mancera, 27, on suspicion of battery against a police officer. Mancera was later found to also have drug paraphernalia Mancera was eventually issued a citation.
  • 2:01 p.m. - Authorities investigated a reported dog bite in the 700 block of East Route 66. The incident reportedly happened near a trailer park. Someone was walking their dog when it reportedly bit a neighbor. Police took a report of the incident.
  • 4:09 p.m. - Officers investigated a residential burglary report in the 1100 block of South Prospero Drive. The resident arrived home to find the front door forced open, police said.
  • 5:54 p.m. - Police responded to , 1000 West Foothill Blvd., on a . After a general searched conducted with Campus Safety personnel, nothing was found and students were allowed to return to the buildings.
  • 9:25 p.m. - Officers took a report of a recovered stolen vehicle at Citrus College.

Tuesday, May 8. Sgt. Matt Williams and Sgt. Matt Egan on duty.

  • 6:22 a.m. - Police conducted a pedestrian check in the 400 block of West Foothill Blvd. and arrested known transient Charles Addy, 56, on suspicion of trespassing. Addy was released on a citation.
  • 7:48 a.m. - Officers conducted a follow-up investigation at , 1505 South Sunflower Avenue, and arrested a 17-year-old boy and 15-year-old-girl after a fight stemming from May 7. The reason for the fight is unknown, but according to police, two teen girls were posturing to fight each other. The teen boy, a relative of one of the girls stepped in. Both teens have been cited and released to their parents.
  • 11:06 a.m. - Authorities responded to a report of a burglary in the 100 block of West Haltern Avenue. Upon entry by officers, they reportedly found the master bedroom extensively ransacked. Entry was reportedly attempted through a bathroom window, with entry successful through the front door. A preliminary inventory revealed jewelry was taken.
  • 5:41 p.m. - Authorities responded to the 400 block of West Gladstone Street. A man was reportedly in violation of a restraining order against him. The man allegedly confronted the woman he is estranged from with a screw driver, according to scanner reports. The man fled the area before officers could arrive. The man fled westbound towards Oakdale Memorial Park, 1401 South Grand Avenue. Police set up a perimeter to find the man in the area, but could not locate him.
  • 9:14 p.m. - Police were called to the 1100 block of South Valley Center Avenue on a vandalism call. Police took a report of a damaged truck.
  • 9:21 p.m. - Officers took a second report of vandalism in the 1100 block of South Valley Center Avenue. A white Jetta had a window smashed, police said. A dell laptop was allegedly taken at the location.


Wednesday, May 9. Sgt. Matt Williams and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 3:30 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop on Sunflower Avenue and Arrow Highway and arrested Regina Hernandez, 25, on several warrants involving issuing false checks and driving on a suspended license. Hernandez was held in lieu of $50,000 bail before being released for a court appearance.
  • 9:21 a.m. - Police conducted a follow up report at Aurora Charter Oak Hospital, 1161 East Covina Blvd. and arrested Steven Greeran, 29, on suspicion of making criminal threats. Greeran was admitted to Charter Oak to be mentally evaluated last week. Upon his release, Greernan was taken into custody. He was eventually transferred to the Inmate Reception Center.
  • 6:04 p.m. - Police received a call of a reported grand theft auto in parking lot, 1305 South Lone Hill Avenue. The theft allegedly occurred about 30 minutes prior to police being notified. Stolen was a brown Toyota Camry.
  • 7:35 p.m. - Authorities were called to , 1225 South Lone Hill Avenue on a theft report. Employees alleged they detained a theft suspect and awaited an officer's arrival. Police arrested Antonio Martinez, 30, on suspicion of theft and possessing a controlled substance. Martinez was held in lieu of $10,000 bail before being released for a court appearance.
  • 10:32 p.m. - Employees at , 117 West Arrow Highway, called police and alleged a man attempted to use a counterfeit $100 bill. Once the man exited the drive through after having the bill rejected by employees, officers detained the man and arrested Michael Salas, 28, on suspicion of burglary, issuing a fictitious bill or note, driving on a suspended license and violation of his parole. Salas was eventually released for a court appearance.

Thursday, May 10. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James Demond on duty.

  • 7:13 a.m. - Police investigated a suspicious occupied vehicle in the Parking lot at 1950 East Auto Centre Driver. Officers arrested the driver on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and unlawful display of vehicle registration. The driver was released for a court appearance.
  • 7:46 a.m. - Authorities investigated a theft report at Citrus College. A late report was filed from an alleged theft two weeks ago when items were taken from the driver's Mazda parked on campus.
  • 4:24 p.m. - Authorities investigated a theft in progress at , 431 East Arrow Highway. A man reportedly stole a pack of razor blades, DeMond said. The man fled the store on a bicycle.

Friday, May 11. Lt. Rob Lamborghini on duty.

  • 9:34 a.m. - Authorities investigated a vandalism report in the 500 block of North Pennsylvania Avenue.
  • 2:04 p.m. - Employees at , 133 West Route 66, called police and said a man reported he had been assaulted in the restroom by another man. Police arrived, but could not find the suspect. Police are investigating the victim's claims.
  • 4:11 p.m. - Police were called to , 150 South Grand Avenue, on a battery report. A man alleged he received a broken nose from an altercation earlier in the day on Arrow Highway. A report was taken.
  • 9:53 p.m. - Glendora Police were called to the 1100 block of East Arrow Highway. The hysterical caller alleged her boyfriend tried to prevent her from leaving the residence by smashing her vehicle's window, according to scanner reports. The man fled on foot before units could arrive. Police eventually found and arrested Jerry Castro, 25, on suspicion of robbery, vandalism and violating his parole. Castro was held without bail.

Saturday, May 12. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Sgt. Mike Randazzo on duty.

  • 1:49 a.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop on South Lone Hill Avenue at Route 66 and arrested the male driver on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The driver was released on $10,000 bond.
  • 2:22 a.m. - Authorities conducted a traffic stop on North Vista Bonita at Meda avenues and arrested Virginia Montes, 63, on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit. Montes was eventually cited and released.
  • 8:22 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop on South Sunflower Avenue at Gladstone Street and arrested Garrett Maluenda, 22, on suspicion of DUI, driving on a suspended license and failing to provide proof of insurance. Maluenda was eventually cited and released.
  • 9:13 a.m. - A theft report was investigated in the 800 block of South Grand Avenue.
  • 3:22 p.m. - A vehicle burglary was reported at , 1100 South Valley Center Avenue. A red Dodge truck was reportedly vandalized in one of the parking lots.


Sunday, May 13. Sgt. Matt Williams and Sgt. Mike Randazzo on duty.

  • 12:29 a.m. - A driver called Glendora Police and told officers he was being followed by another man driving a white truck. Police caught up to both vehicles on Foothill Blvd. at Lone Hill Avenue and arrested Trevor Fiore, 18, on suspicion of DUI, exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level and for driving a motor vehicle carrying an alcoholic beverage while under the age of 21. Fiore was issued a citation and released.
  • 1:48 a.m. - Officers responded to a disturbance call on West Gladstone Street at Glendora Avenue and arrested Louis Garcia, 31, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and providing a false ID to officers. Garcia was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
  • 8:17 a.m. - Police conducted a pedestrian check at and arrested the male subject on several outstanding warrants involving driving without a license and failure to appear on a written promise. The subject was eventually cited and released.
  • 3:06 p.m. - Police were called to Best Buy, 1307 East Gladstone Street. The store manager alleged a customer was unruly. Police arrived and arrested Shawn Zazueta, 28, on an outstanding warrant. Zazueta was transferred to Covina Police, the agency where the warrant originated from.
  • 8:02 p.m. - Officers investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 300 block of West Route 66.
