Police Blotter: Burglaries, Thefts and a Thwarted Home Burglary

Local police activity for the week of March 26 to April 1.

The following was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, March 26. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

6:09 a.m. - Officers investigated a grand theft auto report in the 100 block of East Linfield Street. The vehicle owner left his Honda Accord, last seen the Friday before, on the street overnight and was taken sometime during the weekend.

8:29 a.m. - Police investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 700 block of North Yucca Ridge Road. The locked car was burglarized March 24, but just reported March 26. The owner's purse, baby stroller, iPhone charger and a bag were allegedly taken, Caldwell said.

9:37 a.m. - Authorities investigated a residential burglary report in the 600 block of East Juanita Avenue. Entry was made through a rear window. Several items were taken, including a gun.

10:20 a.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of West Arrow Highway. The officer ran the registration information on the vehicle and noticed that, even though the registration was valid, the vehicle was expired, Ward said. Officers arrested Kenneth Barraco, 46, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, displaying fraudulent tags on his vehicle and for driving an unregistered vehicle. Barraco was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

2:58 p.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of East Lemon Avenue. The driver was observed running through a stop sign, according to police. Officers arrested Anthony Cordova, 36, on several city warrants. Cordova was cited and released.

9:46 p.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of South Lone Hill Avenue and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving without a license. The driver was cited and released.

Tuesday, March 27. Lt Jamie Caldwell and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

2:29 a.m. - An officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on South Bonnie Cove Avenue at Claraday Street and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit. The driver was held in lieu of $15,000 bail.

5:53 a.m. - Police investigated a vandalism report in the 1700 block of South Barranca Avenue. A front window to the residence was broken by unknown means. There was no evidence of entry made into the home, Caldwell said.

1:56 p.m. - Authorities investigated a grand theft auto report in the 1700 block of East Palopinto Avenue. The vehicle in question was a recovered vehicle allegedly stolen from a Harvey Mudd College student in the Claremont area. The vehicle was abandoned in Glendora and found with some shaved keys in the ignition, Caldwell said.

6:13 p.m. - Police arrived to East Route 66 at South Elwood Street near the restaurant on a report of public drunkenness. Officers arrested the subject on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol. Police held the subject and released him when no further proceedings were desired.

Wednesday, March 28. Lt. Jamie Caldwell on duty.

8:34 a.m. - Glendora Police were called to , 1225 South Lone Hill Avenue on a theft in progress. Police arrested Caitlin Plummer, 21, on suspicion of theft. Plummer was cited and released.

11:25 a.m. - Officers investigated a theft report at , 1600 East Foothill Blvd.

3:35 p.m. - Authorities conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of South Lone Avenue and arrested the driver on several warrants. The driver was held on a no bail warrant.

4:22 p.m. - Police investigated a vandalism report at , 1000 West Foothill Blvd.

 

Thursday, March 29. Lt Rob Lamborghini and Lt. Jamie Caldwell on duty.

2:56 a.m. - Police arrived to the 200 block of West Colorado Avenue on a drunk in public call. Authorities arrested the subject on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol. The subject was cited and released.

7:16 a.m. - Police investigated a graffiti report in the 600 block of East Juanita Avenue.

8:07 a.m. - Authorities investigated a theft report in the 1200 block of South Wales Avenue.

1:51 p.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of West Arrow Highway and arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant. The subject was cited and released.

8:25 p.m. - Officers were called to the 100 block of East Bennett Avenue on a reported in progress. The caller alleged a man dressed in black entered the garage and pointed a gun at him. The caller fought off his attacker. Police were unable to find the suspect.

9:56 p.m. - Authorities conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of East Essex Avenue and arrested the driver on disorderly conduct from alcohol. The subject was cited and released.

 

Friday, March 30, Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Sgt. Mike Randazzo on duty.

6:39 a.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of East Juanita Avenue and arrested the driver on a traffic warrant. The driver was cited and released.

8:45 a.m. - Police were called to the 1700 block of South Glendora Avenue. The caller alleged her 15-year-old son would be arriving to the residence after having been missing for an unknown amount of time. According to police, the juvenile has a no-bail teen warrant for an alleged crime and the mother was concerned the teen would cause problems upon his arrival. Officers arrived and arrested the teen on his outstanding warrant.

9:35 a.m. - Police investigated a vehicle burglary report at , 820 South Grand Avenue. A purse was reportedly stolen from a vehicle in the parking lot.

10:31 a.m. - Police investigated a grand theft auto report in the 1200 block of South Lone Hill Avenue. A gardener was performing work nearby and left the truck unattended. At some point an unidentified subject allegedly stole the Toyota Tacoma, Randazzo said.

2:26 p.m. - Officers were called to Kohls. Loss prevention reportedly had two teens detained on suspicion of shoplifting. Police arrived and arrested two females, both 17, according to Randazzo. The teens were eventually cited and released.

6:25 p.m. - Authorities arrived to Kohls on a fraud in progress call. Police arrived and determined no crime was committed, but a background check of the subject revealed an outstanding warrant. Officers arrested Manuel Aguilar, 35. Aguilar was eventually cited and released.

10:08 p.m. - Police investigated a theft report at ., 1830 East Route 66. Store officials reported a suspect stole alcohol from the store and fled in an unknown color Audi.

Saturday, March 31, Lt. Rob Lamborghini on duty.

12:46 a.m. - Police arrived to the 1200 block of East Route 66 on a reported fight in progress. Once on scene, officers learned the fight was verbal in nature, but eventually arrested Erik Jung, 31, on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol. Jung was cited and released.

1:01 a.m. - Police responded to an alarm call in the 1100 block of East Juanita Avenue. Upon entering the property, officers came in contact with the owner's Rottweiler, were chased by the animal and had to eventually put it down. An investigation is ongoing.

1:30 a.m. - An officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on East Ada and Glendora avenues and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI, exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level and possession of marijuana while driving. The subject was cited and released.

7:30 a.m. - Police investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 1300 block of South Lone Hill Avenue. The theft allegedly occurred some time the previous day and the third row seat was taken in the theft near , DeMond said.

11:41 a.m. - Authorities investigated a grand theft report in the 1100 block of East Comstock Avenue. A brass fountain was taken from the front yard of the property.

4:01 p.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of West Route 66 and arrested the driver on suspicion of failing to present an ID to officers, driving on a suspended license and failure to provide proof of insurance. The subject was cited and released.

Sunday, April 1. Lt Rob Lamborghini and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

2:23 p.m. - Police responded to a residential burglary report in the 1400 block of East Lawford Street. The resident returned home to find the home was burglarized. Officers observed that entry was made through a bathroom window and the burglar left through a rear sliding door. The bedroom was ransacked and some jewelry was reported stolen, Ward said.

4:31 p.m. - Officers arrived to Radio Shack, 830 South Grand Avenue on a reported theft. The crime had occurred 20 minutes prior to police being notified. Two suspects reportedly stole phone cases and attempted to steal a camera, police said.

6:06 p.m. Authorities served a warrant in the 1200 block of East Sierra Madre. Officers arrested Chaminda Jayaratne, a male, 37, from Glendora. The subject was eventually released on a citation.

9 p.m. - Glendora PD were informed by the victim of a that occurred at Walmart, 1950 East Auto Centre Drive. The victim alleges there were three suspects, one female and two males. One of the suspects reportedly hit the victim with an object, causing him to become disoriented, while the female suspect threatened him with a weapon. Stolen was a laptop and GPS device.

*Incidents to report Sunday were sparse due to Glendora city web sites being down, including the Live Calls page and Arrest Log. Glendora Police were also impeded with booking arrest subjects due to the Countywide Live Scan booking system going down. Live Scan verifies fingerprints and enters other subject information into the system, from which the Arrest Log and Live Calls are compiled from, Ward said.
