Outages Keep AMC Glendora in the Dark

Downed wires left many customers without power, while the AMC theater was dark most of the night.

The AMC Glendora 12 theater in the Marketplace was still dark Saturday night as downed wires earlier in the day left more than 1,000 customers without power.

It is unknown how long the AMC 12 at the Glendora Marketplace has been without power. As of 8 p.m., the doors were locked, the lights out, and signs were taped up stating "Due to a power outage in the area, we are unable to open for business. We will open as soon as possible. Thank you."

The wires fell at Crown Street and Bradford Drive around 5 a.m., according to Southern California Edison spokesperson Scott Andresen. Crews worked for 12 hours and restored power by about 5 p.m. Originally 1,178 Glendora customers were without electricity.

Although power was fully restored to all Glendora customers around 5 p.m., SoCal officials said, the theater still sat in darkness. Andresen was not sure why the theater was still dark.

"It could be their circuit that overloaded. We don't show any outage at that location," Andresen said.

Attempts to reach AMC officials were unsuccessful.

According to SoCal Edison, Glendora was one of the most affected areas.

Cities across the Southland experienced outages, many because of the storm. Other cities at that time included Bishop, Kernville, Colton, Apple Valley and San Bernardino.

At its peak, outages nearly topped 32,000 customers across SoCal by 4 p.m.

Many other areas were affected, including Malibu, which had 2,188 without power, Topanga Canyon, Palm Springs and Cathedral City.
