Man Arrested After Drugs, Gun Found in Solo Crash

17-month-old child was also in the wrecked vehicle, Tuesday morning.

Glendora Police arrested a man Tuesday morning after he crashed his vehicle with his 17-month-old child inside.

Matthew Walker, 41, was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm and being under the influence of narcotics. Walker is being held at Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles in lieu of $110,000 bail.

Police responded to the crash at 2:14 a.m., Dec. 31, at the intersection of Grand and Juanita avenues. Walker crashed into and knocked over a light pole at the intersection, said Sergeant Mike Henderson of Glendora Police.

It was not immediately known what direction Walker was driving when he crashed.

Police searched the vehicle and found a loaded handgun and also found methamphetamine and heroine inside the vehicle, Henderson said.

Walker was taken to Foothill Presbyterian Hospital to be evaluated and was then taken to the Glendora Police Station to be booked. The child was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina to be evaluated and is now in the custody of the mother, Henderson said.

Walker is scheduled to appear in Citrus Municipal Court Jan. 3.
