Fire Breaks Out Above Azusa

Forty acres burned north of Azusa in Fish Canyon Tuesday afternoon.

About 40 acres of brush went up in smoke near the mouth of San Gabriel Canyon today.

The fire broke out north of Azusa in Fish Canyon about 2:50 p.m. near a shooting range and burned for about 90 minutes until it was quenched by more than 100 Los Angeles County firefighters and three water-dropping helicopters, according to county fire Inspector Tony Akins.

Fish Canyon, on the western side of San Gabriel Canyon, contains a series of waterfalls about 4 miles from a trailhead in Azusa.
