Update: Burned Body Discovered in Unincorporated Covina

Authorities are on the scene investigating the charred remains of an unknown victim discovered in unincorporated Covina.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the grisly discovery of a charred body in unincorporated Covina Tuesday morning.

The body was discovered at around 3:45 a.m. on East Covina Hills Road near East Via Verde Street in unincorporated Covina, according to Deputy Benjamin Grub of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Patrolling deputies spotted the fire and extinguished it with a fire extinguisher. That’s when they found the body.

The body was burned beyond recognition and authorities could not initially confirm if the victim was male or female.

While the investigation is ongoing, preliminary information suggests the body is a male who was dumped at the location and set on fire.

No details have been released on a possible suspect.
