Cinco de Mayo DUI Patrols to Begin Tonight

The countywide anti-DUI campaign will patrol for impaired drivers this weekend.

Los Angeles County law enforcement agencies will be deploying DUI saturation patrols to stop, test and arrest impaired drivers during Cinco de Mayo festivities this weekend. Initiated by the Avoid the 100 Los Angeles County DUI Task Force, the campaign will begin deploying patrols throughout the county starting Friday, May 4 at 6 p.m. through Sunday. California Highway Patrol will also deploy saturation patrols onto freeways and in unincorporated county jurisdictions.  With Cinco de Mayo festivities in full swing, law enforcement agencies are expecting a higher number of intoxicated drivers this weekend. Local Police Crack Down on St. Patrick’s Day Drunk Driving

The Los Angeles County Avoid the 100 will beef up DUI patrols in cities throughout the county.

St. Patrick’s Day may be a day when everyone is Irish, but local law enforcement agencies are reminding drivers that police will be on the lookout to nab drunk drivers this weekend. Los Angeles County’s Avoid the 100 DUI Campaign will be deploying additional officers on overtime for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. DUI patrol officers will be focusing on determined drunk driver hotspots during the Saint Patrick’s Day enforcement period from 6 p.m., March 16 to 6 a.m. March 18. Glendora PD Receives Grant to Continue Anti-DUI Campaigns

The nearly $700,000 grant will allow the Glendora Police Department to continue to coordinate the Avoid the 100 DUI checkpoints and patrols.

The Glendora Police Department received a $691,000 grant by the California Office of Traffic Safety to continue coordinating the countywide anti-DUI Avoid the 100 task force. The Avoid the 100 campaigns target drivers under the influence by setting up DUI checkpoints and patrols throughout Los Angeles County. The Avoid the 100 task force, named after the 100 law enforcement agencies participating in the program, conducts several anti-DUI campaigns throughout the year – especially during holidays, or times when law enforcement usually see a higher number of intoxicated drivers. DUI Patrols to Hit the Streets for Super Bowl Sunday

The Avoid the 100 DUI campaign urges Super Bowl fans to take part in the national designated driver program.

As football fans rally for Super Bowl Sunday this weekend, Los Angeles County enforcement will be patrolling the streets for signs of intoxicated drivers. The Avoid the 100 is again coordinating an anti-DUI campaign during the nationally televised Super Bowl this Sunday, Feb. 5 in communities across Los Angeles County. The DUI patrols will join regularly scheduled patrol officers in looking for signs of an intoxicated driver. In 2010, more than 10,000 people were killed in traffic accidents that involved a driver with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or higher, according to an Avoid the 100 press statement. Holiday DUI Arrests on the Rise

The Avoid the 100 DUI Task Force makes more arrests through the holiday weekend than last year.

Los Angeles County’s DUI crackdown netted more arrests through the Christmas weekend than last year, according to numbers by the Avoid the 100 DUI task force. From Dec. 16 to Dec. 26, 1,506 individuals were arrested during DUI patrols and checkpoints throughout the county for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2010, 1,260 DUI arrests were made during the same 10-day period. According to an Avoid the 100 press statement, several agencies have yet to report their numbers. Fatalities on California highways were also up during the Christmas holiday weekend – five more than last year. Six people were killed in state highways during the holiday weekend, although none of the deaths occurred in Los Angeles County. There was one …

LA County Enforcement to Launch Winter Anti-DUI Campaign

Police will conduct 32 driver's license checkpoints during the 2-week campaign.

Los Angeles County enforcement and police agencies will be out in force during the holiday season to nab suspected drunk drivers. County enforcement with the Avoid the 100 Anti-DUI task force will conduct 32 DUI/driver’s license checkpoints and deploy 202 roving DUI patrols during the two-week campaign launching Friday, Dec. 16. to Sunday, Jan. 1. DUI checkpoints are placed in locations that the Avoid the 100 DUI task force say have the best chance to deter intoxicated drivers, according to a press statement. LA County Officers Bulk Up Patrols For Halloween

According to statistics, Halloween weekend is one of the most dangerous times of the year on California highways.

As party-going ghosts and goblins celebrate Halloween Oct. 31, the Avoid the 100 Los Angeles County DUI Task Force reminds everyone to keep the party off the road. Extra DUI saturation patrols will be out in force with additional officers looking to stop and arrest drunk drivers. Anti-DUI Campaign Nets 663 Arrests During First Weekend

The 18-day summer campaign will continue through Sept. 5.

The Summer/Labor Day Anti-DUI Campaign is off to a busy start, making more than 600 DUI arrests throughout Los Angeles County during its first three days. Weekend arrests for the start of the Avoid the 100’s 18-day DUI crackdown resulted in 663 DUI's from Friday, Aug. 19 through midnight Sunday, Aug. 21. The number is just 21 arrests less than the previous year’s 3-day total of 684 DUI arrests. Over the next several days, the campaign will coordinate 21 DUI checkpoints and 106 saturation patrols. All regularly scheduled traffic and patrol officers will focus their efforts on DUI arrests during their normal shifts. As the summer days wind down, Los Angeles County law enforcement agencies will begin an 18-day crackdown on drunken driving, setting up DUI checkpoints throughout the county. The Avoid the 100 DUI task force begins its “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign today through Sept. 5 with DUI driver’s license checkpoints, DUI Task Force deployments and DUI patrols scheduled throughout the campaign. The task force, headed by Glendora Police Department as the coordinating police department, has hosted multiple anti-DUI campaigns throughout the year, urging motorists to realize the severe, and often fatal consequences, of drunken driving. Nearly 600 DUI Arrests Made During Holiday Weekend

Avoid the 100 campaign officials plan two more anti-DUI campaigns during the summer.

Dozens of Los Angeles County law enforcement agencies made nearly 600 DUI arrests over the Memorial Day weekend through multiple sobriety checkpoints and intense deployment of DUI patrols. Coordinated through the Glendora Police Department, the Avoid the 100 campaign arrested 593 individuals during the four-day span of midnight on Friday, May 27 through midnight on Monday, May 30. Officers arrested individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. According to Glendora Community Services Officer Wendy Brewer, the number of arrests is comparable to last year’s number.
