Saw your police chief quoted in a wire story, so posted just for you. Hang in there! Patch's bestRead More days are ahead of us. http://glendora.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/glendora-police-chief-urges-propriety-in-midst-of-super-bowl-fun

I would encourage you to give Patch a pass here, Zak. A football story is here because it DOES haveRead More some relevance to Glendorans (everyone here is sports crazy!)AND the biggest football event of the year is coming up. It seems a reasonable story effort and I don't feel that every story on Patch has to be about Glendora. Every story in the L.A. Times is not about L.A. :)

Congrats to the team. Wonder if that's why GLL charges ridiculously over priced sign-up fees toRead More Lassie League parents. From what I hear its all about funding All-Star teams at the end.

Well, it's about time. I'll give St Lucy the benefit of the doubt. But, it is a long held fact, notRead More an opinion, that private schools have had an edge on encouraging elite athletes to play for them. All you have to do is look at the overall State CIF championship results over the years in the predominant sports that "feed" major colleges & universities their freshman recruits. There are many examples over my 35 years of following CIFs sports where the level of competition is so obviously tilted to the private school of until they reach the playoffs & then it eventually pans out to which private school has done the better recruiting. And then there are those occasions when a "neighborhood" school rises up to compete and really makes a proud statement.

All good and reasonable comments. As a matter of fact, St Lucy's select their incoming freshmanRead More class based on academic ability and test scores secured during the application process. ( not athletic ability) Virtually 100 percent of their graduates move ahead to attend college. If St Lucy' doesn't" answer to the State of California, possibly they should call for a visit to pick up some pointers. Once again, this is an education based action. That said, the athletic program at St. Lucy's will be adversely affected if the decision is not reversed. Let's at least be fair, the public schools recruit accomplished athletes far more than any private school in the Glendora area.

To graduate from St. Lucy's, a NONPROFIT institution, a student must complete all of the CSU/UCRead More entrance requirements (and then some), plus religion classes. We are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the same accrediting agency that accredits all public schools. Thus we have the same accountabiiity. I am sorry that "just my opinion" does not trust private schools. I certainly would never say that about Charter Oak or Glendora High, both fine public schools.

It seems we mostly just hear about Glendora sports in schools...never anything about studentsRead More excelling in the arts. That's unfortunate.
