Kids Cupcake Camp Needs Kid Bakers

Student bakers can submit cupcakes for a chance to earn more than $2,000 for their school district.

I think it is safe to say that we all want to make the world a better place but sometimes that task can seem a little daunting.

At Patch we want to make it easier for you. Each week, we will feature a place in your community that needs your help. We know your community has given you a lot and now it is your turn to give back.

The Cake Mamas are hosting a cupcake camp to benefit a toy drive for the Shepherd’s Pantry. Kids Cupcake Camp will be held on Dec. 11 from 1-4 p.m., at Glendora High School. Schools are encouraged to come out and support their teams. Instead of paying an admission fee at the door, guests are encouraged to bring a new toy, valued at $10 or greater.

Guests will get an empty container to collect four regular size cupcakes of their choice, from any of the 50 participating professional, amateur or student bakers there. There will be professional and amateur bakers, food trucks, face painting, a photo booth, raffles and prizes, bouncers and tons of other family activities.

The Cake Mamas are asking asking schools from both Charter Oak Unified and Glendora Unified school districts to commit to bringing and donating a minimum of 200 cupcakes for a taste challenge to be hosted at the cupcake camp. The winning cupcake will be sold at the Cake Mama’s store for 30 days where 100 percent of the proceeds go to the district.

Each school needs to assemble a group of 5 students. Students, along with the help of their parents, must come up with a great cupcake recipe to compete with at the event. Student bakers will need to attend the KIDS Cupcake Camp on Dec. 11 with 200 cupcakes and staff a booth to represent their school.

Who does it benefit?: The cupcake camp will benefit a toy drive for The Shepherd’s Pantry. Winners of the Best Tasting Cupcake will earn over $2,000 for their school district.

Why Volunteer?: As the holiday season draws near, The Shepherd’s Pantry is in need of your donations. Donating a toy to the pantry will help a great deal in their holiday season drive. Entering in the cupcake cake challenge will earn one lucky school district some extra money as they continue face budget challenges ahead.

When is it?: KIDS Cupcake Camp will be held on Dec. 11 from 1-4 p.m., at Glendora High School. Bakers can begin set up at 11am.

Where is it?: At Glendora High School, 1600 E Foothill Blvd, Glendora.
