Why Volunteer?: When you have dinner at Giovanni's Ristorante, 114 E. Italia St., Covina, 15 percent of sales go the . For decades, the nonprofit has helped families in need by providing Stater Bros. grocery vouchers, clothing, gasoline vouchers, bus passes, overnight stays at two Glendora motels, fast-food vouchers, one-time utilities payments (gas, water, electric), and referrals to continuing assistance services.

When is it?: Thursday, Oct. 13. Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dinner: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
