Blood Drive, Fundraiser Hosted in Memory of Teen Who Died of Leukemia

A Glendora teen’s death has inspired community members to give back.

When Glendora High School graduate Chris Vega was diagnosed with leukemia a year ago, community members hosted blood drives and fundraisers in his honor. Although the 18-year-old passed away on Monday, community members have continued to give back in his memory.

The following benefits are hosted this week in honor of Vega:

Thursday, Sept. 20
Blood drive benefitting the Pediatric Department at City of Hope
LAFitness, 820 S. Grand Ave., Glendora
1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

If you are able to donate, contact the donor center at 626-471-7171 or book online idonateblood4hope.org.

Saturday, Sept. 22
Glendora Junior All American Football & Cheer will be selling 50/50 raffles throughout the day during games from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Games will be at Louie Pompei Sports Park, 1100 S. Valley Center, Glendora.

A portion of the proceeds will go toward the Chris Vega fund.
