What to Do at the LA County Fair, Sept. 2

Here's is today's guide to the L.A. County Fair.

It’s day three of the Los Angeles County Fair. Most have the day off Monday. Sunday might be a good time to indulge. Below is a list of events and programs for Sept. 2.

Today’s Deals:

  • $1 admission from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; $1 22-oz soft drinks from 1-4 p.m.; $2 carnival rides and games from 4-7 p.m.
  • Season Pass: presented by Walgreens, $24.99 for ages 6 and older at participating Walgreens
  • Ralphs Any-Day Tickets: admission tickets $10 for adults, $6 for ages 6-12, comes with exclusive unlimited carnival ride wristband ($35). Restrictions apply. Presented by Ralphs.
  • Costco Savings Pack: $54.99 for 4 any-day tickets, one parking pass and 44 carnival ride/game tickets. At participating Costco store.
  • Children 5 and younger are free every day.

Today’s Top Things To Do:

Grand Funk Railroad & Burton Cummings - These two favorites perform at the End of Summer Concert Series, presented by Toyota. A limited number of free general admission tickets will be available beginning at 3 p.m. at the ticket kiosk on Rose Lane. Reserved seats are available at ticketmaster.com and the Fair box office. 7:30 p.m.

Festival Latinoamericano de Arte y Folklore - Sept. 2-3. Celebrate the rich cultural traditions of Latin America this weekend with an artistic showcase of vendors and entertainment.

Spider-Man - This popular Marvel Comic superhero visits the America’s Kids: A Living Library of Fun attraction for meet and greets. 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.

Crafters Village - Sept. 2-3. Festival Village will host a different festival each weekend of the Fair. This weekend is Crafters Village with artists and vendors selling handmade items. Products include metal art, steam punk jewelry, handmade incense, T-shirts, soaps, dolls and more. Located near the Lagoon.

Cooking Demonstration - Join Chef Leslie for a demo on quick and healthy meals. At the Village on Broadway. 4 & 5:30 p.m.

Wines classes - Winemaker Adam LaZarre hosts three classes in the Wine & Spirits Marketplace – Wines of the Central Coast, 2 p.m.; Paso Robles Wines – High Quality at Good Value, 4 p.m.; and The Passion of Paso – Wines of Paso Robles, 6 p.m.

Axe Women Loggers of Main – Open daily. The all-female lumberjill show entertains crowds with their amazing skills, including world-champion chopping and axe throwing. In Wilderness Ridge.

Purple Reign - This tribute band captures the essence and raw energy of Prince. Performance at the Coca-Cola Stage. 7, 8:30, 10 and 11:30 p.m.

Pets Ahoy – Open daily. Join an animal adventure of epic proportions with high-seas excitement from Pets Overboard, featuring a wild and wooly time with dogs, cats, birds, rats, buccaneers, pirate birds and fun for all.

Barking Buccaneers – Opening daily. Speaking of dogs and pirates, some pirates have become dogs. Cunning canines demonstrate their skills in Frisbee catching acrobatics and deep-sea diving. Join in the fun at Pets Ahoy.

BBQ Contest - Watch the area’s best amateur BBQ-ers grill to their hearts’ content at the Fair’s annual BBQ contest. Judging begins at 2 p.m. at Big BBQ Ranch.
