Large Outage Reported in San Dimas

Workers identify the source of the outage, have since restored power to majority of customers.

A squirrel was the unfortunate cause of a large power outage in San Dimas this morning.

The outage was reported at 10:29 a.m. and affected 7,350 customers, according to officials at Southern California Edison. Crews were dispatched and quickly restored power to some customers, but many more were still left in the dark.

The squirrel fell into some equipment at a San Dimas substation, causing the outage.

As of 1:10 p.m., under 800 customers are still without power, officials said.

It was unknown how big of an area was affected by the outage.
