Umpire Suffers Heart Attack During Game

Man reportedly died after being transported to a local hospital.

A 65-year-old umpire reportedly suffered a heart attack during a baseball game at Saturday evening and eventually passed away, according to

The umpire, whose name was not released, was administered CPR and medics used a defibrillator and temporarily revived the man at the scene, according to Sergeant Scott Strong. The umpire was transported to Intercommunity Hospital where he reportedly died.

It was not immediately known what league was playing when the incident happened.

Police received a call just before 6 p.m., July 7. The caller stated the umpire appeared to possibly be having a heart attack. The umpire reportedly was unconscious and not breathing when police arrived, according to scanner reports.

Officers did not release the name of the man who died, because they did not immediately know if next of kin were notified.

No further details were available.
