St. Lucy’s High Pair Selected to All-CIF Girl’s Water Polo Team

Senior star Emily Donohoe is named All-CIF Division 3 Player of the Year, the CIF announced Monday.

St. Lucy’s High School water polo standout Emily Donohoe puts the final touch on a phenomenal high school career with her second All-CIF Division 3 Player of the Year award.

Donohoe, who will play for UCLA next season, is joined on the All-CIF list by teammate Sabrina Kaefer. The team, which was announced Monday, was selected by the Southern California Water Polo Coaches’ Association.

Certainly, Donohoe would have traded the individual accolades for a CIF title, which the Regents just missed. Top-seeded St. Lucy’s lost 8-7 to Murrieta Valley in the finals this season.

Donohoe is a two-time All-CIF and All-Sierra League Player of the Year, having captured the same individual titles as a junior. St. Lucy’s made it to the finals first by capturing the Sierra League title.

In CIF action, the Regents faced Atascadero in the 1st round, winning 19-3. Next, they dispatched La Serna 18-9, then won their semifinal matchup with South Pasadena, 16-8. Murrieta Valley coach Bryan Lynton was selected Coach of the Year.
