Female lightweight Jajaira Gonzalez, of Glendora, was one of four Americans to advance to the semifinals on Monday at the 2014 Youth World Championships in Bulgaria, according to East Side Boxing.
The three others are male flyweight Shakur Stevenson of Newark, N.J., female middleweight Martha Fabela of Oakland and male super heavyweight Darmani Rock of Philadelphia.
Gonzalez is the returning 2013 Junior World Champion. She is scheduled to take on Ukraine’s Anhelina Bondarenko on Wednesday.
