'The Hunger Games,' 'Brave New World' Among Challenged Books
The American Library Association has released a list of the 10 most challenged library books in 2011.
Every year, the American Library Association releases a list of the 10 most frequently challenged library books from the past year. The reasons range from “offensive language” to “unsuited to age group,” and some books, like To Kill a Mockingbird, are perennial picks.
The top 10 challenged books of 2011--and the reasons given by protesters for why they should be taken out of libraries--are:
1. ttyl; ttfn; l8r, g8r (series) by Lauren Myracle - offensive language, unsuited to age group, sexually explicit
