Montgomery Named President of Citrus College Board

Joanne Montgomery was named president of the governing board.

Joanne Montgomery was installed as the new president of the Citrus College Board of Trustees during the board's annual reorganization meeting Wednesday, according to a news release from the school.

Montgomery represents Monrovia and parts of Duarte and Bradbury on the board, to which she was . She was first appointed to the board to fill a vacancy in 1998 and has won election in 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011.

"In these challenging economic times, Citrus College’s greatest contribution will be its ability to ensure student success," Montgomery said in a written statement. "While coping with reductions in state apportionment, the Citrus College community has demonstrated creativity and expertise in developing innovative programs and services. I am confident the college will have a significant role in the economic recovery of both the region and the state."

Montgomery worked for the for more than 30 years as an elementary school teacher.
