Mom, Child Injured in Minor Collision

No arrests and no charges filed in Monday afternoon accident.

A mother and her young son were injured Monday after a driver accidentally struck the mom while in the crosswalk at Grand and Bennett avenues.

The mother and son received minor injuries; the mom received scrapes and bruises, while the child, roughly 10 years old, hit his head as he fell. Both were transported to an area hospital as a precaution and have since been released,  said Lieutenant Jamie Caldwell of Glendora Police.

The accident happened around 2:21 p.m. The mother had picked up her son from one of the schools in the immediate area and was walking eastbound in the crosswalk. The driver was making a right turn at the intersection and reportedly didn't see the mother and son, Caldwell said.

"She hit the woman and knocked her to the ground. Because she was holding her son's hand, she pulled him down to the ground, too," Caldwell said.

The driver had been traveling at about five miles per hour when the accident happened. The driver was not arrested and no charges were filed, Caldwell said.
