Local Students to Showcase Food-Inspired Art

Food is the theme at the second annual ArtReach art exhibit at the Fairplex Fairgrounds.

Local students from communities including Glendora, Walnut, Claremont and La Verne will display more than 300 artworks inspired by food in an art exhibition at the Fairplex fairgrounds in March.

Hosted by the Career and Technical Educational Center at Fairplex, the second annual ArtReach art exhibition March 8 to 13 recognizes the talent of students from high schools in the East San Gabriel Valley and San Bernardino County. Students submitted paintings, drawings, photographs and ceramics based on the universal experience of food for juried selection.

"This is a community-driven art exhibition, which not only allows CTEC and Fairplex to reach out to the community, but also demonstrates how universal themes in art can reach out and connect us all,” said Lugene Whitley, the exhibition’s curator in a written statement. “More importantly, it gives students the opportunity to showcase their work and express their thoughts and feelings about food in a creative and visual way.”
