Students promote pedestrian safety and physical activity during Wednesday morning's activities.

International Walk to School Day is Wednesday and students at Sellers Elementary School will be joining children around the world in strapping on their walking shoes and heading to school.

Walk to School Day is intended to raise awareness of the need for safer walking and biking routes, as well as promote physical activity and greener alternatives to driving.

Students, parents and teachers at Sellers Elementary will be joining together in walking “school buses,” carrying signs to promote the day’s events. They will be greeted at school by McGruff the Crime Dog and L.A. County Firefighters.
