Food Trucks to Roll Onto Charter Oak Campus

Trucks serving culinary treats from barbecue, creole cuisine and boba tea head today's food truck rally at Charter Oak High School.

With the food truck craze taking over cities across America, some of Southern California’s own popular trucks are rolling onto the Charter Oak High School campus in Covina.

From 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 20 and Tuesday, Sept 27, food trucks will be at Charter Oak High School, 1430 East Covina Blvd., Covina, serving their specialties.

Diners eager to sample all the food truck offerings can try anything from Creole cuisine, burgers, Indian food or boba tea.

Christian Murcia and his wife Danielle, owners of another recognizable food truck Crepes Bonaparte, have helped coordinate high school food truck rallies to benefit booster clubs at various southern California schools, including high schools in Cerritos and Downey. Now in it’s third week at Charter Oak, the rally will benefit the school’s band department.

“We started this fundraiser because it is a win-win for both the school and the trucks,” said Christian Murcia.  “We have a place to park our trucks that is improving the community because we are raising money for the school, rather than on the street where restaurants complain.”
