FGUS Launches New Business Partner Program

Businesses can choose from several levels of sponsorship for advertising benefits.

The Foundation for Glendora Unified Schools (FGUS) launches a new Business Partner Program, designed for businesses in the community, which commences this summer.

“Over the last several years, the Foundation has been approached by local businesses who wish to support our schools. Many times, they have been in a quandary as to how they can target their philanthropic giving to serve all of Glendora Unified School District students.  By developing the Business Partner Program, we now have a vehicle by which they can do this,” said Mike Beckman, FGUS President.

The program is structured with different giving levels: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum.  Business owners can select the level that is affordable for them, and in return, will receive several useful benefits, according to their giving level. Among these will include a corresponding placard to display in their storefronts by which they can advertise their support of our schools to the community, and perhaps more importantly, to their customers.

“One of the advantages of the Business Partner Program is it allows each business owner to select a level at which they are comfortable in giving, while knowing their gift is benefitting the broadest spectrum of students because it is being done through the Foundation,” said Beckman.  “Also, as a thank you, we, in return, can let the public know that particular business is a supporter of our schools, which I think goes a long way in terms of community goodwill.  Overall, it’s a win-win situation.”

The Foundation for Glendora Unified Schools is a nonprofit educational foundation, run by volunteers, whose mission is to “provide financial support, facilitate community involvement, and enhance student learning for the Glendora Unified School District.”  Thus far, the Foundation has raised more than $1.6 million for Glendora’s public schools.  In particular, a few of last year’s FGUS contributions to the District funded the music program in the elementary schools, supported technology,  and assisted in providing a college-going culture in Glendora schools.

“We have tried to accommodate a wide spectrum of businesses in this program, and I believe there is a level at which almost everyone can participate,” said Beckman. “Our hope is that we can create a partnership between FGUS and our local businesses that will be beneficial to our schools and the children of Glendora.  I encourage everyone to make a gift to the Foundation, whether they be private citizens or businesses.”
