Election Day: What You Need to Know

Here is your quick guide as you head to the polls today.

Today – Tuesday, Nov. 8 – is Election Day and 2 million LA County voters will head to the polls to vote on various local races. In Glendora, voters will decide on seats for two school board races – Glendora Unified and Charter Oak Unified.

 Who is Running?

Two seats are open on the Incumbents Doris Blum, 78, and Doug Ferrell, 57, are running for reelection against challengers Cory Ellenson, 25,  and Irene Miller, 41.

While and have more than 40 years of combined experience on the Glendora Unified School Board and are running on the strength of their resumes, they face a strong challenge from 25-year-old law clerk , whose list of endorsements includes Assemblyman Tim Donnelly and Glendora City Council Member Judy Nelson. Blum's and Ferrell's endorsement list includes Senator Bob Huff and four other city council members.

Three seats are open for the , with three incumbents – , 65; , 57; and , 66 – seeking reelection. They face a challenge from former school board member , 49, and former Glendora mayor, , 68. Akers, Cruz and Probst also cite their long experience on the Charter Oak school board as their main qualifications for reelection. Rose and Shade both have had contentious pasts with board members, but claim to challenge the status quo to support the school budget and boost slipping test scores.

Where Can I Find My Polling Place?

There are three ways to find your polling place:

  • Review the back cover of your Official Sample Ballot booklet
  • Find it online by typing in your zip code.
  • Call the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk at (800) 815-2666-Option “1.”

Vote By Mail Ballot

* For those who have not mailed back their vote by mail ballot, they can return it any polling place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day.

  • Ballots must be placed in the purple VBM envelope, sealed and signed.
  • VBM voters who may have lost/damaged their ballot may cast a provisional ballot at their polling place.

What are the Polling Place Hours?

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Services For Voters With Disabilities

  • Services for the disabled include accessible election materials, wheel chair accessible polling places and assistive voting devices.
  • Curbside voting is available at poll locations without wheelchair accessibility.
