Claremont Colleges Shine in National Rankings

The colleges are well represented on a list of top Liberal Arts Schools.

The Claremont Colleges did well in the 2013 U.S. News & World Reports rankings of the Best Colleges.

Pomona College tied for fourth with Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., among the rankings of Liberal Arts Colleges.

Following closely behind were Claremont McKenna College -- which tied for 10th with Vassar in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. -- and Harvey Mudd College, which tied for 12th with Davidson College in Davidson, N.C.

Scripps College tied for 24th with Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. Pitzer College also cracked the top 50, coming in tied for 43rd with Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., and Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

The University of La Verne earned a ranking among the publication’s National Universities list. La Verne tied for 165 with West Virginia University of Morgantown, W.Va.; University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho; Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas; and San Diego State University.

The U.S. News and World Reports rankings provide information on more than 1,600 colleges and universities. The lists consider tuition, total enrollment, acceptance rates for a specific semester, average freshman retention rate and the six-year graduation rate.
