Citrus College Recognized by National Education Journal

Citrus was ranked among the top colleges in the nation.

A national education journal has listed Citrus College among the top 50 community colleges in the nation.

"The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education," included Citrus College in its Top 50 Community Colleges issue, which was published in late March. The college ranked 23 out of 50 colleges nationwide in terms of awarding associate degrees to Hispanic students," officials said Monday.

“Inclusion in their annual community college issue validates Citrus College as a leader in education and underscores the fact that the college is fulfilling its mission of fostering a diverse educational community and providing a culture that supports student success,” said Dr. Geraldine Perri, superintendent/president of Citrus College.

The college rankings are determined using information from the National Center for Education Statistics’ Integrated Postsecondary Education Data Systems (NCES/IPEDS).

Every year, the magazine reviews data from the approximately 1,200 community colleges throughout the United States and ranks each institution in four categories:  Hispanic full-time enrollment, schools awarding associate degrees to Hispanic students, community colleges employing Hispanic faculty, and colleges that offer both associate degrees and four-year degrees to Hispanic students.

“This national ranking is an excellent example of Citrus College’s commitment to college completion and academic excellence,” said Mrs. Susan M. Keith, president of the Citrus Community College District Board of Trustees.  “The college is extremely proud to be recognized for meeting the educational needs of the communities we serve.”
