Citrus College Ranked in Top 50 By Hispanic Journal

The community college gets high honors from the biweekly The Hispanic Outlook.

won recognition from the biweekly national publication The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education, earning top 50 rankings in three categories.

The Hispanic Outlook’s annual Top 50 Community Colleges issue ranked Citrus College in the top 50 for Community Colleges by Hispanic Full-Time Enrollment (No. 45), Community Colleges by Hispanic Faculty (No. 40), and Community Colleges for Hispanics Awarding Associate Degrees categories (No. 40).

In California, nearly half of students are Hispanic, yet only 16.6 percent of teachers are Hispanic. Citrus College is identified as a Hispanic-serving institution with nearly half of its students being Hispanic. About 18.4 percent of the college's full-time faculty members are Hispanic.

For 22 years, The Hispanic Outlook has covered higher education, spotlighting topics relevant to institutions and Hispanic student populations.

 “We are very happy and proud to be ranked in the Top 50 in the nation,” said Dr. Geraldine M. Perri, Citrus College superintendent/president.  “This recognition serves to underscore that Citrus College is fulfilling its mission of serving all of our communities.”
