Citrus College Fairs Offer Educational Opportunities to Students

Citrus College held its highly anticipated joint Fall College Fair and College of Completion Fair on Thursday, Oct. 17, which had hundreds of students ready for transfer flocking to the campus quad to explore the new academic opportunities that await them.

Approximately 50 representatives from the California State University and University of California systems, out-of-state colleges and private universities were on campus to inform students on their transfer options. Hosted by the Citrus College Career/Transfer Center (CTC), the event allowed students to ask questions about transferring, application deadlines, financial aid, housing, majors and more.

In addition to the College Fair, students also participated in the second College of Completion Fair, which began in the 2012-13 fall semester as part of a larger campus-wide initiative launched to encourage and support students as they complete their educational objectives.

“As we enter the second year as a College of Completion, Citrus College continues to create new and innovative ways to deliver the support services essential to student success,” said Superintendent/President Dr. Geraldine Perri, Ph.D. “This fair is just one of many incredible opportunities that the college offers students, cementing our commitment to researching and implementing strategies that will support their career development and transfer needs.”

The Completion Fair provides students with in-depth information about the college’s programs, various degrees and certificates, and what’s required to successfully transfer to a four-year college or university.

In addition to the Fall Fair, the Career/Transfer Center offers Citrus College students several programs to ensure a seamless transfer to a four-year university. Other activities include CSU/UC application information sessions and resume and career planning workshops that fall in line with the College of Completion initiative.

“Simply enrolling in college is a great feat for many, but once they have overcome that first obstacle of getting here, it is now time to complete the task at hand,” CTC Coordinator Raul Sanchez said.

To help students along the way, Citrus College has created various transfer paths, including CSU Associate Degrees for Transfer, UC Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG), the new Guarantee Program with Arizona State, and articulation agreements with several private and out-of-state institutions.
