Everything from A to Z at the Azusa Pacific U Car Show
Local automotive aficionados organize a car show on the Azusa Pacific University campus. It's definitely old school, with everything from a Model A to a zero ground clearance Chevy lowrider.
After partaking at Glendora’s pancake phenom, Flappy Jacks, I like to take Route 66 back home, as it becomes Alosta Avenue, which turns into Foothill, which turns into Huntington Drive. On this particular drive, it’s while I’m on the Alosta strip of the old highway where I spot a cluster of gleaming chrome on my right.
It’s Azusa Pacific University, and the campus is holding a car show. It’s definitely old school, as I see everything from a Model A Ford to a zero ground clearance 1962 Chevy lowrider, along with vintage pick-up trucks, muscle cars, and what looks like the entire membership of a local Mustang car club. Arts, crafts and baked goods cooked up by Azusa Pacific students are part of the show.
Event organizer and APU student Christopher Lazar had been trying to get a car show in the neighborhood, and it turns out that the campus is the ideal venue. “What better place to show off the automotive metal ware than right on Route 66.” Lazar hopes it’s the first of many annual car shows at this locale. In concurrence, I got my camera out. My shutter went a snappin’ at APU’s car show.
