VIDEO: Huff Talks Budget, Bond Rating

Bob Huff serves as the Senate Republican Leader and represents the 29th Senate District.

Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) touches on the latest budget numbers for the month of April and also comments on the concerns voiced by bond rating agency Standard and Poors in his Capitol Comment for the Week of April 30th.

The biggest tax collection month of the year, April, is not bringing in the kind of revenues that had been projected by the Governor when he released his proposed budget last January. Lower numbers will serve to increase the size of the budget deficit that lawmakers will grapple with during the start of the new fiscal year in July, and may lead to additional budget cuts, according to Huff.

Huff also shares the same concerns issued by bond rating agency Standard and Poors, which could revise its positive outlook on California's debt. S&P fears that the State Legislature could resort to budget gimmicks this summer because a court has removed an incentive for lawmakers to pass a spending plan that is truly balanced.
