Residents Urged to Report Wind Storm Damages

Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management needs countywide estimates.

More than one week after throughout the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County is still trying to tally up the cost of wind storm damages.

Glendora city and Los Angeles County officials are asking homeowners and business owners to report their storm-related costs.

Cities must report damages to the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management to be eligible for reimbursement through state or federal disaster aid.

Residents are advised to call 2-1-1 or visit www.211la.org to report damages.

Governor Jerry Brown announced Saturday that he would declare a state of emergency in the San Gabriel Valley after wind storms uprooted large centuries-old trees and caused power outages that lasted for days.

Cities, including Glendora and Monrovia, declared a state of emergency immediately after the storm.

According to Glendora City Manager Chris Jeffers Glendora took a $300,000 hit in wind storm damages, while other cities including Monrovia and Temple City, were looking at $3 million to $4 million in heavy damages.

Jeffers said the city would likely to cover wind storm costs.
