L.A. County Officials Consider Sending State Prisoners Elsewhere

The Los Angeles Times reports that L.A. County officials are looking to solve Gov. Jerry Brown's realignment plan by passing off state prisoners out of county.

As, Los Angeles County officials are considering an unconventional solution, the Los Angeles Times reported.

According to the state’s realignment plan to solve severe prison overcrowding, hundreds of state prisoners would be headed to Los Angeles County prisons. But L.A. County jails may just ship those prisoners to someone else.

L.A. County Sheriff officials told the Times that county prisoners have never been housed out of county before, and this option is considered a last resort.

Still, officials are seriously considering the option and are collecting input from surrounding counties.
