Judy Chu Speaks at the Democratic National Convention (Video)

Chu, who is running in the new San Gabriel Valley Foothill District, had a chance to speak on President Obama's record Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention.

Rep. Judy Chu, D-El Monte, a congress woman running to represent multiple towns in the San Gabriel Valley, spoke about the American dream in a speech at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday.

In the above video, Chu spoke about her grandfather coming to America from China and starting his own restaurant to support his family.

"It was the American dream that kept him going to lift up our family," Chu said.

She linked President Obama to the American dream, crediting him with making college more affordable for students, small business tax credits and with passing a national health care plan.

"Today, President Obama wants to ensure that the same opportunity to achieve the American dream is available to all families," Chu said.

She criticized Republican candidate Mitt Romney for his views on Medicare and for opposing an auto bailout extended to American manufacturers by Obama and said Republicans have refused to credit Obama for doing anything right.

"Despite all the good President Obama has done, Republicans have attacked him at every step," Chu said.

Chu is running in the new 27th Congressional District which includes the cities of Altadena, South Pasadena, Arcadia, Sierra Madre, San Marino, Monrovia and Glendora.
