Glendora Social Security Office to Close Earlier

The Social Security Administration is dealing with $1 billion less money than what President Barack Obama requested for its fiscal year budget.

To deal with a budget shortfall, the Glendora Social Security Office will begin closing a half hour earlier each day.

The new office hours are effective Aug. 15 is Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

While Congress has provided $1 billion less than what the President Barack Obama requested for Social Security's fiscal year budget, the shortened schedule will be initiated to avoid incurring employee overtime. Over the last nine months, 1,600 employees were laid off from regional offices while President Obama has called for a hiring freeze.
