Glendora Jobless Rate Falls to 6.2 Percent

The unemployment rate drops throughout county, state.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Los Angeles County and Glendora dipped slightly since September, according to the state Employment Development Department.

The most recent figures, released Friday, show that the county’s jobless rate dropped to 12.2 percent in October, down from 12.4 percent in September. 

In Glendora, the unemployment rate fell slightly from 6.6 percent in September to 6.2 percent.

The state’s jobless rate was 11.7 percent in October, down slightly from the 11.9 percent in September and lower than a year ago when it was 12.5 percent, according to the EDD.

Nationally, the number of unemployed remained pretty flat from September to October, according to the estimates. The unemployment rate in October was 9 percent, compared to 9.1 percent in September.  That same figure was 9.7 percent a year ago.

In Los Angeles County, total nonfarm employment went up by 31,600 jobs. The number of unemployed people in the county, which has a labor force of around 4.86 million, totaled 595,000 in October.  In California, 2.1 million people were listed as out of work, slightly down from September.
