Construction of New Retail Building Planned in Glendora

The new building will replace a long-vacant retail space at 600 W. Route 66.

The Glendora Planning Commission unanimously approved on Tuesday a minor conditional use permit that would allow the construction of a new 3,389-square-foot retail building at 600 W. Route 66.

Commissioners said they hoped the new building would revitalize the location where a 1,196-square-foot structure has sat vacant for nearly a decade.

One West Bank will be one of the tenants in the retail building occupying the 12,364 square-foot lot.

Commissioners also praised the architecture of the commercial space, which was described as “prairie style, relative to the craftsman style of existing structures in the area,” according to a representative of developers DLR Group.

City staff recommended that the existing structure on the property be demolished within six months of granting of any entitlements.
