The Forum will inform and assist immigrant families and individuals facing deportation. There will be free legal consultations available.

An immigration community forum to inform and assist immigrant families and individuals facing deportation will be held in on Saturday June 9th.

Organizers invite immigrants facing deportation or their relatives to obtain key information that may help bolster their case and prevent the separation of families, according to a press release.

The event is hosted by Congresswomen Judy Chu (D-32), Grace Napolitano (D-38), Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-34), the Los Angeles Family Unity Commission, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) and the National Immigration Law Center (NILC), among others.

According to Jorge Mario Cabrera, director of Communications of CHIRLA, of approximately 53,000 deportation cases in review by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials in Los Angeles, only 220 have received deportation relief.

The other 99.9% cases have been denied and a deportation order has been issued following a pattern of disregard to the administrative changes ordered by the White House and ICE Director Morton, added Cabrera.

The event will be Saturday, June 9, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Legal consultations require registration on-site.
