Cold Storm System to Bring Rain and Wind Tuesday

The National Weather Service expects rain, wind and possibly hail to hit the region Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook Monday and warned that rain, wind and possibly hail could hit the region Tuesday as a cold stormfront moves in.

The inclement weather is expected to last through Wednesday and NWS predicts that scattered thunderstorms could produce small hail in addition to the 80 percent chance of rain forecast for Tuesday.

The Los Angeles County Public Works Department said Sunday that it may close Angeles Forest Highway from Aliso Canyon Road to Angeles Crest Highway, effective Tuesday, said Sgt. Burton Brink of the Crescenta Valley sheriff's station.

Additional closures include Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to Vogel Flats and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to Angeles Crest Highway.

"Local access will not be permitted until the road closures are lifted,'' Brink said. "The closures will remain in effect until the storm system has passed and the roads have been inspected."

Here's the 2-day forecast for Glendora from NWS:

  • Tuesday: Showers with a high near 54. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
  • Tuesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 4 a.m., with a chance of thunderstorms after 4 a.m. Low around 41. Southwest wind around 10 mph becoming west northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.
  • Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. West wind around 10 mph.
  • Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 40. North wind 5 to 10 mph.
