City Releases 2011 Summer Recreation Guide

Summer registration for Glendora residents begin Thursday, May 19.

Looking to fill your summers with something to do? With summer just around the corner, the city of Glendora has released its 2011 Sumer schedule of programs and services available for children and adults of all ages.

Available are a variety of classes for all ages and interests, including sports camps, dance classes, computers, zumba, art and more.

Some of the scheduled classes include:

  • Swimming lessons for children as young as 1 years old.
  • Glendora Trails Hikes, including Colby and Colby Dalton Trails, South Hills Wilderness Areas and Big Dalton Canyon Trail
  • Early development classes for children
  • Children’s sports including soccer, basketball, volleyball, bowling, flag football, karate, gymnastic and skateboarding
  • Adult sports leagues and exercise classes, including zumba, yoga, pilates and cardio kickboxing.
  • Various dance, art, music and computer literacy classes for a variety of levels and ages.
  • La Fetra senior center courses and programs.

Registration for summer classes will begin by mail for Glendora residents Thursday, May 19 (cannot be postmarked before Wednesday, May 18).

After Thursday, May 26, Glendora residents may walk in to register. Internet registration begins Thursday, May 19. Non-resident registration begins on Thursday, June 2.

The Parks and Playground program is for children in grades 1 – 5 and offers activities at the Legion Building, Finkbiner Park and The Crowther Teen & Family Center. This free program is Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children ages 5-6 must be accompanied by an older sibling or friend. The program includes games, sports, arts and crafts, trips, and special events. There is no fee and parents are encouraged to fill out an emergency contact card available at each site.
