City Promotes Facility Rentals to Help Cover Maintenance Costs

Rental fees cover at least 20 percent of the operational budget

In a time of budget shortfalls and reductions, Glendora is looking to city facility rentals for extra revenue, or at least cover the cost of maintenance.

City officials say they may raise the minimal fee for facility rentals in the coming weeks, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

The two most popular city facility rentals are the La Fetra Center and the American Legion Hall, which host weddings and private parties on weekends.

offers two rooms for rent – The Sage Room and the Oak/Elm Room. The 1,800 square foot Sage Room currently costs $225 the first hour and $45 each additional hour to rent. The 1,400 square foot Oak/Elm Room costs $125 for the first hour and $25 each additional hour. Each room comes with additional fees for the kitchen, insurance, city staff, cleaning and a non-refundable retainer fee.

“[Facility rental revenue] is hugely important,” Debbie Dozal, Human Services/Transportation superintendent, told the Tribune.  Dozal said the revenue offsets maintenance costs and equipment replacement. She said it helped bring in funding for at least 20 percent of the operational budget.

is also available for rent. The hall can accommodate up to 185 people and has hosted wedding receptions, retirement parties, quinceaneras, reunions and anniversaries.

Resident fees for the building are $225 for the first hour and $45 for each additional hour. There are also extra fees for the retainer, kitchen, cleaning and extra staff.

Call Community Services at (626) 914-8228 for rental information. Visit the city website for an information packet on the American Legion Building.
