City Offers Free Places to Beat the Heat

Looking for places to cool down this summer? Here are several free "cooling" areas in the city.

As the temperatures continue to rise this summer, the city of Glendora has several public centers where residents can find refuge from the heat for free.

Infants and children under five years old, women who are pregnant and those over 65, individuals with chronic illnesses are especially vulnerable to the heat, which is why the city is offering these locations to residents if air conditioning is not easily accessible them.

Below are free “cooling” areas in the city:

  • , 333 E. Foothill Blvd. Hours Monday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays 9 a.m. to  6 p.m. (only open if the forcast is for temperatures 99 degrees and above).
  • , 140 S. Glendora Ave. Hours: Monday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • , 241 W. Dawson Ave. Hours: Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
