Canceled Election to Save City $120,000

Glendora's canceled March election is the first since 1984.

When the city received no candidate filing papers – other than those of the two incumbents –by the deadline in December, the Glendora City Council voted to cancel the scheduled March city election. The canceled election will save the city $120,000, according to city officials.

Incumbents Karen Davis and current Mayor Gene Murabito were set to run unopposed in the election set for March 5, 2013. State law allows cities to cancel elections if incumbents are unchallenged by no other candidates.

This is the first canceled city election since 1984.
