BID Envisioning Greater Village Presence, Outreach

A Three-year plan in the development process is being created with the hope of generating more exposure to downtown businesses.

The Business Improvement District board will continue discussion, Thursday, on plans to give greater exposure to the Village.

The BID and other business stakeholders see their Strategic Plan as a goal to generate more exposure, more customers and greater cohesion between Village business owners.

The plan was developed in early March and is comprised of four goals to accomplish over the next three years: increase Village foot traffic, create a sustainable marketing program, increase personnel and financial resources and expand the positive perception of the Village inside and outside Glendora, officials said.

Included in this plan are a series of events to bring more residents to the Village; one event includes having businesses stay open until 9 p.m., and a "Taste" event that would generate funds for the BID, officials reported.

The advisory board would also employ a marketing campaign through print, the Web and social media, as well as a citywide mailer designed to promote the downtown. Officials also envision a Hollywood-type landmark affixed to the side of South Hills that faces the 210 freeway, officials said.

BID board members will meet every six months to discuss the progress of the 12 total tasks in their Strategic Plan.

Updates on its progression will be provided at each BID meeting. The next scheduled meeting is Thursday, May 2, at 8:30 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 116 East Foothill Blvd.
